Greetings to All –

All my life I’ve been a person of faith and lived with a healthy (yet very limited) perspective of God’s interest and involvement in my affairs (both large and small) and I’ve long been a proponent of our need for a greater awareness and recognition of our lives beyond that which is triggered by our five most basic senses. More than ever before in my life, I am more attune to our journey on a “spiritual plane” and God’s work among us and His desire to carry out His purposes through us! It is incredibly humbling to fathom all this (both the good and the bad that befalls us) happens “so that the work of God might be displayed in our lives” (John 9:1-4).

While so much is occurring around us through our work with City Connections and for which we give God the glory, meanwhile I’m participating with my church family at the Pleasant Valley church who have committed this year to read through the Bible using The Daily Bible wherein F. LaGard Smith masterfully organizes the events of scripture into chronological order. The daily reading of scripture during this first six months has only served to magnify (1) the reality of the “cosmic struggle” happening all around us as the forces of good war against the forces of evil; and (2) of what the Lord very simply requires of us - - “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:15).

To this noble goal we give our life and recognize there are thousands of believers like you who God has placed in all different kinds of organizations and who He is equipping and giving a similar vision of the potential for good that exist when God’s people unite and provide servant leadership in our city to become catalyst for change, restoration, and reconciliation! While we are grateful for the contact we have with each of you through this channel, the time has come to deepen these ties and to draw you into a closer relational network of community partners we are now building since opening our first City Connections Center this past month.

If you’d like to talk further about what all of this means and if you’d like to tour our new Center which is located at 2500 E. 6th Street, drop me a note and let me know when would be a good time for us to get together in the next week or so.

The beat goes on and may God continue to bless you as you faithfully use the gifts God has given you and as you following His holy promptings in your life of service.

Fraternally,

Jeff Spry
